Toronto is our single busiest city — a dense, varied market of downtown condos, heritage detached homes, luxury Yorkville penthouses, and mid-century bungalows being renovated from the studs out. Every Toronto project we take on is custom measured by our own team and installed in a single day. No stock kits, no guessing, no compromise on fit.

FAQ · Toronto

Common questions from Toronto customers.

Heritage-era bathrooms in Rosedale, Forest Hill, and Lawrence Park are a regular part of our Toronto work. These homes often have original tile surrounds that the homeowner wants to preserve — no cutting into existing tile, no new anchoring that disturbs a century of character. Frameless glass is well-suited to this constraint: a properly specified panel with polished edges can be positioned and anchored in ways that avoid the existing substrate entirely, using wall-mount systems that clamp to the glass rather than penetrating the tile. We assess each situation at the measure and advise on the approach before anything is committed.

Toronto condo installs are a regular part of our work across King West, Yorkville, Liberty Village, and the Distillery District. We carry the insurance and liability documentation that City of Toronto property managers typically require for COI submissions. Jay coordinates elevator booking directly with building management and times glass delivery and installation to a single visit to minimize the number of bookings required. Most condo board pre-approval processes can be addressed with our contractor documentation package — reach out and we'll confirm what your specific building needs.

In Toronto, guard railings on decks, stairs, and open floor edges are subject to City of Toronto Building Department permit requirements under OBC Part 9, Section 9.8. The permit threshold depends on whether the installation is a new guard system or a like-for-like replacement, and the City applies its standard residential permit process. We supply the full product specification, OBC compliance documentation, and drawings required for the permit application. The homeowner submits the permit; we handle the technical package needed to complete it.

Toronto contains over 20 designated Heritage Conservation Districts (HCDs) including Cabbagetown, Yorkville, Old Town, Wychwood Park, and parts of The Beaches. For interior glass installations the HCD designation has no effect — we operate inside the building envelope. For exterior glass work visible from the street (balcony railings on heritage townhouses, glass entry vestibules), Toronto's Heritage Planning unit may have review input, even when no permit threshold is triggered. We flag this at the measure stage and supply documentation if Heritage Planning needs input.

Downtown condo bathrooms account for the largest single share of our Toronto installs. Typical specification: 10mm clear tempered glass, 78–84-inch panel height, matte black or brushed nickel hardware. Floor-to-ceiling unit dimensions force a working compromise — condo bathrooms aren't tall enough for the 96-inch+ panels we install in detached homes. For Toronto's pre-war detached homes (Riverdale, The Beaches, Roncesvalles), the question is often curbless versus curbed — pre-war substrates often need contractor coordination before glass measure.
