In Toronto, guard railings on decks, stairs, and open floor edges are subject to City of Toronto Building Department permit requirements under OBC Part 9, Section 9.8. The permit threshold depends on whether the installation is a new guard system or a like-for-like replacement, and the City applies its standard residential permit process. We supply the full product specification, OBC compliance documentation, and drawings required for the permit application. The homeowner submits the permit; we handle the technical package needed to complete it.

Toronto contains over 20 designated Heritage Conservation Districts (HCDs) including Cabbagetown, Yorkville, Old Town, Wychwood Park, and parts of The Beaches.
