5-Year Workmanship Warranty.

What's Covered.

For five years from the date of installation, we cover defects directly attributable to our workmanship:

• Installation alignmentPanel plumb, level, and reveal consistency. If a door starts to sag, drift, or rub against the jamb, we re-align and re-anchor.
• Hardware functionHinges, brackets, standoffs, magnetic catches, and door sweeps installed by us. Includes adjustment, replacement of failed parts, and re-torque to spec.
• Seal & silicone integrityAll silicone bead joints, magnetic seals, bottom sweeps, and wet-area transitions we installed. If a joint opens, splits, or weeps within five years, we re-seal at no charge.
• Anchor & fastener stabilityAll wall anchors, glass clamps, standoffs, and structural fasteners. If anything loosens, pulls, or fails to hold under normal use, we make it right.
• Drilling & edgework defectsAny chip, crack, or stress fracture originating from our cut, hole, or edge polish — covered for the full warranty period, including replacement glass.

What's Not Covered.

The warranty does not extend to damage caused by use, environment, or third-party modification. Specifically:

• Glass breakage from impact or misuseTempered glass is engineered to break safely under sharp impact. Breakage from objects, slams, or thermal shock is replaceable at material cost only.
• Improper cleaning chemicalsAmmonia-based cleaners, abrasive pads, and bathroom products labelled "for tile and grout" will etch glass and damage hardware coatings. See our Glass Care Guide.
• Surrounding structure changesWall settlement, tile failure, subfloor shifting, or renovation work performed by other trades that affects the glass installation.
• Hardware finish wear (cosmetic)PVD coatings, matte black, and brushed finishes are covered against manufacturing defect by the hardware manufacturer (typically 5–10 years). Normal cosmetic wear is excluded.
• Third-party modificationAny drilling, anchoring, or modification performed on our installation by another contractor voids the warranty for the affected area.
• Acts of GodEarthquake, flood, fire, vandalism, and other extreme events outside normal residential or commercial use.

How to Make a Claim.

The process is simple — most claims are resolved with a single visit:

Transferability.

The Built By Glass warranty is fully transferable to the next homeowner for the remainder of the five-year term. When you sell, simply provide the new owner with a copy of your original invoice — that's the proof of install date. This transferability adds measurable resale value: realtors across the GTA increasingly highlight transferable workmanship guarantees on listing photos and feature sheets.

Beyond Year Five.

Past the warranty period, we continue to service every install we've ever done. Standard service-call rates apply, but priority is given to existing clients. Most of our work — when properly installed and maintained — performs well past the warranty term: many of our earliest installs from 2015 are still in original condition with no service required.

Hardware Manufacturer Warranties.

Beyond our workmanship guarantee, the architectural hardware we install (sourced from CRL, Richelieu, FMF, and Obsidian) carries its own manufacturer warranty — typically 5 to 10 years for PVD finishes, 1 to 5 years for moving parts. We register the hardware to your installation and handle manufacturer claims on your behalf if anything fails within those periods.
