Frameless Shower Installation: What to Expect

By Jay Siva, Founder · September 17, 2026 · 7 min read

Most homeowners have watched a renovation go sideways at least once, so "what actually happens?" is a fair question before letting anyone near a finished bathroom. Here is our process, exactly as it runs on real projects across the GTA — no surprises is the whole point.

Before We Arrive

The one prerequisite: your tile must be finished and grouted before the final measure. Frameless glass is fabricated to the millimetre against the actual walls, so measuring before grout means measuring the wrong bathroom. If your renovation is mid-flight, book the measure for just after the tile is done — measure visits dispatch same-day in Durham, within about two business days in Toronto, and three to five in the far west of the GTA.

The Laser Measure

The measure visit takes under an hour. We laser-measure every plane — because almost no wall is truly plumb, especially in older Toronto housing stock — and record the out-of-square angles the glass will be cut to match. You'll pick glass (10mm or 12mm, clear, Starphire low-iron, smoked or fluted) and hardware finish from the 13 we stock, and you leave the visit with a written quote. No deposit is required to book the measure.

The 10-Day Window

From the final measure, fabrication runs 10 business days. Each panel is custom-cut, edge-polished, tempered, and drilled for your exact hinge and clamp positions. This is also why frameless glass can't be rushed or bought off a shelf — the panel that fits your bathroom fits only your bathroom.

Install Day, Hour by Hour

  • Arrival & protection — floors and fixtures covered along the carry path.
  • Dry fit — panels are positioned and checked against the measured angles before anything is fixed.
  • Mounting — hinges, clamps or channel are anchored, the glass is set, and the door is aligned and swing-tested.
  • Sealing — silicone is applied where the enclosure meets tile.

A typical enclosure is a single visit of a few hours — the faq's honest range is three to five hours for most configurations. We remove all packaging, and old-enclosure haul-away is available if arranged in the quote.

The First 24 Hours

One rule: don't run the shower for 24 hours while the silicone cures. After that, it's yours — and the care guide covers the squeegee habit that keeps it looking installed-yesterday. Every install carries our 5-year written workmanship warranty, and the exact cost math lives in the frameless shower cost guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

The install itself is a single visit, typically three to five hours for most configurations. The full timeline is: laser measure after your tile is grouted, 10 business days of fabrication, then the one install visit.

One thing: have the tile finished and grouted. Frameless glass is fabricated to the millimetre against your actual walls, so we only take the final measure once the surfaces the glass touches are complete.

Wait 24 hours before running water — that is the silicone cure window. Everything else is usable immediately.

Almost none are, especially in older GTA housing stock. The laser measure captures the true angles and the panels are cut to match — an out-of-square bathroom gets glass built for that exact geometry, which is the core advantage of custom fabrication over stock kits.

Yes — old-enclosure removal and haul-away is available as an add-on arranged in your quote, so demolition and installation happen in the same visit.
